Skype User Names
Setup a different Skype user name for personal and school use. When using Skype at home, use a different username and when using Skype for school business, use a username that reflects the school. For example, if your name is John Smith and your work at St. Patrick School, your personal Skype username can be jsmith and your school Skype username can be stpatricksjsmith.
Class Skype usernames
If you want to use Skype in class, create a series of Skype usernames i.e. stpatricksclass1, stpatricksclass2, stpatricksclass3, etc. Students should not be identifiable or contactable through Skype in school. Passwords for these class usernames should not be known to the students so that they are prevented from using the said usernames outside class.
Sharing contacts
Once all usernames are established, it is easy to share them around school using standard Skype steps.
Privacy Settings
Once usernames are setup, check that privacy settings are set so you only receive calls or instant messages from the people on your contact list. You can also choose not to share contact details even with the people on your contact list so as to ensure total privacy. Never set your status message to Skype Me since this overrides privacy settings mentioned above. When set to Skype Me, anyone can call or send you a message.
